Community Patrons
Members of the greater community who are not UNM-Los Alamos students, faculty, or staff are very welcome to utilize the library and its services free of charge.
Extent of Services
-
To check out materials or use the computers in the library, please present a New Mexico picture ID (driver's license or other valid photo ID). You will be asked to fill out a community borrower card, which is kept on file at the library.
-
Community borrowers are granted the same privileges and services extended to UNM-LA students, faculty, and staff, except as indicated below.
- Please explore the pull-down menus on this page to find out about the library's hours, policies, resources, and special features.
Caveats
-
Computer Use - although community patrons are welcome to use the computers in the library, please be aware that priority use is granted to UNM-Los Alamos students, faculty, and staff when there is an insufficient number of available computers. The library reserves the right to limit the amount of time a guest may occupy a computer.
-
Printing - although printing from the computers in the library is currently free of charge, we ask that patrons print out no more than 25 pages per visit to the library, and to print only what you really need to print. Abuse of the free printing privilege may result in the future implementation of a charge for printing.
-
Interlibrary Loan - community patrons are asked to utilize the interlibrary loan services provided by Mesa Public Library. Under certain conditions, community patrons may apply for interlibrary loan services at UNM-Los Alamos. Upon approval of the application, interlibrary loan services will commence. There is a $10.00 fee for each interlibrary loan transaction. To apply for interlibrary loan services, please contact the Library Director.
