Renewals
- Most circulating materials may be
renewed in person, by written notice, by telephone or by e-mail unless they are recalled
by another UNM-Los Alamos patron.
- Renewal requests should be
accompanied by name and telephone number of the borrower along with distinctive titles
and/or call numbers.
- Up to 3 renewals may be allowed
before an item must be returned to the Library.

Returns
- Most UNM-Los Alamos Library materials may be
returned to either the Circulation Desk or the book drop located in the breezeway on the
west side of Building 1.
The following must be returned ONLY to the
Circulation Desk in the Library:
- Interlibrary loan materials
- Materials checked out from UNM General Library in
Albuquerque to be returned to the Albuquerque campus. A form must be completed and
signed at the time such materials are returned through the UNM-LA Library.
(Note: Patrons who have
checked out materials in person from main campus in Albuquerque are ultimately responsible
for their return to main campus. Main campus materials returned through UNM-LA are
not considered "checked in" until they have been checked in at main
campus. The UNM-LA Library is not responsible for such materials once they have left
the UNM-LA campus).

Reserves (for use by UNM-LA and Extended University students only)
- Faculty (including Extended University
faculty) may place required material on reserve for use by
students in their classes.
- Faculty may place up to 10 items on
reserve per course.
- Loan periods include Library use only,
2-day checkout and 1 week checkout.
- Library staff require 24-48 hours to process reserve
material.
- Fines of $2.00 per item per day are assessed on
overdue reserve materials.

Interlibrary Loans (available to UNM-LA students, faculty and staff only)
- Interlibrary Loan Service is offered to current
students (including extended university students), staff and faculty of UNM-Los Alamos as a means to supplement individual
research.
- Community patrons should seek
interlibrary loan services at the public library.
- Student, staff and faculty borrowers must have a
current patron card on file and be in good standing with the library.
- Requesters may submit up to six (6) requests per
week. Additional prioritized requests will be accepted, but will be processed only
as staff time permits.
- Materials normally take two to four weeks to
receive. Some items may take more time. All materials must be picked up and
returned at the Circulation Desk.
- The lending institution determines the loan period
and whether or not an item may be renewed. Please plan your time for using materials
accordingly.
- No Interlibrary Loan requests will be accepted in
the last three weeks of the semester.
- No requests will be pursued if there is a borrowing
fee.
- Do not request items owned by UNM-LA Library.
Please verify holdings at UNM-LA by checking the LIBROS on-line catalog or the web listing
of our periodical holdings. Check for full-text periodical articles in the
periodical index databases listed on the Electronic Resources page.
- Request forms are available at the Reference Desk.
- Any questions should be directed to 662-0343 or
ulalib@unm.edu.
