The Heart of Art: Drawing, Watercolors & Acrylics (Grades 3rd-6th)
Read about the class
This course focuses on assisting young artists improve the way they express what inspires them. Line/edge, shape/space, and composition, as well as light/shadow, and the whole or "gestalt"are taught throughout the classes in a fun and age appropriate manner. The color wheel is taught and used. This and other key class materials will be sent home as handouts at the conclusion of the class for students' future reference. Class progression is from Sketching (includes some "brainteasers"), blending into Watercolors, proceeding into Acrylics (a 16"x20" canvas.) The class is geared to mature 3rd through 6th graders. A course outline is available at registration. A $20.00 material fee is due to instructor at first class.

Application for Scholarship
Learn the basics of video game design! Create games that you can teach your friends and create a video game in Starlogo! This exciting course also teaches basic game play designs and the brief history of Video Games from their original creation in 1954 to present day. A USB memory stick is recommended to save files between home and the classroom.

Game Design Intermediate (Grades 7th-12th)

Application for Scholarship
In this course students will learn how to design video game levels for 2d and 3d games! They will also learn how to create their own base game designs and create professional game design documents. This course is for any student interested in professional game design. A USB memory stick is recommended to save files between home and the classroom.

Race for the Sun (Grades 4th-6th)
Students will learn how electricity is created directly from sunlight using small photovoltaic modules. The electricity is converted to the mechanical energy of a motorized car, which will be totally solar powered when completed. Students will also learn to solder and create the electrical circuit needed to run the car. The cars can then join a solar car race when completed. Students get to keep their cars!

Writing Outside the Lines (Grades 4th-6th)
Come and join the fascinating world of writing! In this course the student is invited to experience writing for the pleasure of writing. The student will explore the elements of good writing such as story pattern, character development and use of description. The student will have the opportunity to hear and discuss excellent writing, to work on an original fable of their own and to share with the class. Emphasis will be on creativity and fun rather than grammar, spelling or formula.
