Graduation

Graduation Petitions for Fall 2007 Graduation are due by September 14, 2006

The student is expected to be responsible for monitoring his/her individual progress towards graduation. For this purpose, curriculum checklists are available from the UNM-Los Alamos advisors for the various certificates/associate degree programs. A Request for Degree Requirements Graduation Review should be submitted by each student to the Registrar upon the completion of at least 40 credit hours towards an associate degree, or 20 credit hours towards a Certificate. One semester before the semester in which a student expects to graduate, a student must petition to graduate by completing an Official Graduation Petition and submitting it to the Registrar at UNM-Los Alamos.

A second associate degree is not granted until a student has earned a minimum of 15 resident credit hours beyond the requirements for the first degree and fulfilled all requirements for the second degree including residence requirements. Students may graduate under the catalog requirements for the year in which they were enrolled for the first time in the academic or vocational program in which they are seeking degree, provided they complete the graduation requirements of the catalog in effect at the time of their readmission or transfer. Students who do not register for one or more semesters are covered by the catalog in effect at the time of re-enrollment. Students are responsible for knowing the rules and regulations concerning graduation requirements and for registering in the courses necessary to meet them.Deadlines for graduation petitions are printed in the Semester/Session Schedule of Classes.
